Your Rights & Responsibilities
As a participant receiving supports from ThevaCare, you have a clear set of rights — and a few simple responsibilities — that help us deliver safe, respectful and high-quality care together. This page sets them out in plain language.
Your Rights
Every participant has these rights when receiving services from us:
Dignity & Respect
You will always be treated with kindness, dignity and respect — regardless of your background, ability, or circumstances.
Safe & Quality Supports
You have the right to receive supports that are safe, of high quality, and delivered by skilled, trained staff.
Choice of Provider
You can choose who provides your supports and how they are delivered. You may change providers at any time.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Your personal information is kept private and only shared with your consent or as required by law.
Right to an Advocate
You may have a family member, friend, or independent advocate support you in any decision or interaction with us.
Complain Without Fear
You can raise concerns or complaints at any time without it affecting the services you receive.
Cultural Safety
Your culture, language, beliefs, identity and lived experience will be respected and accommodated.
Decision-Making
You have the right to make your own decisions about your supports, your goals, and your daily life.
The NDIS Code of Conduct — In Plain English
All ThevaCare workers follow the NDIS Code of Conduct. In simple terms, this means our staff will always:
- 1
Respect your rights
We will respect your right to make your own choices, express yourself freely and live the life you choose.
- 2
Protect your privacy
We will treat your personal information with care and only share it when it is appropriate or you have given consent.
- 3
Provide safe, skilled support
We will deliver services with care, skill and competence — and only do work we are qualified to do.
- 4
Act with honesty and integrity
We will be open and honest with you, and act in your best interests at all times.
- 5
Speak up about safety concerns
If we see anything that puts you or others at risk, we will act on it quickly and report it to the right people.
- 6
Prevent harm and abuse
We will take active steps to protect you from violence, exploitation, neglect and abuse in any form.
- 7
Prevent sexual misconduct
Sexual misconduct of any kind by a worker is never acceptable, and we have strict measures to prevent and respond to it.
Your Responsibilities
To help us provide the best possible care, we ask that you:
Treat our staff with respect
Please treat ThevaCare workers with the same courtesy and respect you expect to receive.
Communicate openly
Let us know your needs, goals, and any changes that affect your supports — the more we know, the better we can help.
Provide a safe environment
Please ensure your home is a safe place for staff to deliver your supports.
Give reasonable notice for changes
If you need to cancel or change an appointment, please let us know as early as possible.
Honour any agreed contributions
Pay any agreed fees or contributions on time so that we can continue providing your supports without interruption.
Advocacy Support
You have the right to an independent advocate at any time, and at no cost to you. An advocate is someone independent of ThevaCare who can speak with you, support you, or speak on your behalf about anything related to your supports. Free advocacy services are available across Australia.
