Understanding your rights as an NDIS participant receiving supports from ThevaCare
As an NDIS participant receiving supports from ThevaCare, you have important rights that we are committed to upholding. These rights are enshrined in the NDIS Act and the NDIS Code of Conduct.
Your Rights
✓Right to privacy and confidentiality
Your personal information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and only shared when necessary and with your consent.
✓Right to be treated with dignity and respect
You have the right to be treated with dignity and respect, and to have your culture, diversity, values and beliefs acknowledged.
✓Right to self-determination
You have the right to make your own decisions and to direct your own life and supports. You can choose how and when supports are provided.
✓Right to safety
You have the right to receive supports in a safe environment, free from abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence.
✓Right to make complaints
You have the right to make a complaint at any time, without fear of losing your services or being disadvantaged.
✓Right to access information
You have the right to receive clear, accurate information about your supports, your rights, and how decisions are made that affect you.
✓Right to choose your provider
You have the right to choose your own NDIS provider and to change providers if you are not satisfied with your current supports.
✓Right to support coordination
Where funded in your plan, you have the right to access support coordination to help you navigate and connect with services.
Your Responsibilities
As a participant, you also have responsibilities to help us provide the best possible support. Working together ensures the best outcomes for everyone.
Treat ThevaCare staff with respect
We ask that you treat all ThevaCare staff and other participants with respect and courtesy.
Communicate your needs clearly
Help us understand your needs, goals and preferences so we can tailor supports effectively.
Provide a safe environment
Ensure the environment in which supports are delivered is safe for both you and our staff.
Notify us of changes
Let us know as soon as possible if your circumstances, needs or NDIS plan details change.
Honour scheduled appointments
Give us reasonable notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a support session.
Engage honestly
Provide accurate information about your needs and circumstances to help us deliver the right supports.
NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission is an independent government body that regulates NDIS providers. If you are concerned about the quality or safety of your supports, or if you want to make a complaint that has not been resolved by ThevaCare, you can contact the Commission directly.
